Who We Are
The Balyun Sustainable Development Foundation (TBSDF) is a non-governmental organisation founded in 2024 and registered with Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission. We exist to narrow the gap between Africa's development ambitions and its human capital shortfalls — investing in the knowledge, skills and health of Africans so that a capable, productive workforce can both drive and benefit from sustainable development.
Progress across Africa's regions has been uneven, and persistent gaps in poverty, healthcare and education call for solutions that are innovative and rooted in local realities. Because the 2030 Agenda treats the SDGs as deeply interconnected, TBSDF has chosen to anchor its work in human capital development — on the premise that empowered individuals are the foundation of inclusive, lasting change. Our programmes are built to complement, not duplicate, existing efforts, and they map directly onto SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
In practice, that means we target education, health and livelihoods together — helping marginalised communities build resilience, and contributing our part toward Africa's sustainable development goals.
